Welcome to the In Between Naps blog — where we believe the newborn stage should be about more than just getting through the day. Let’s talk about how to make those early weeks feel a little lighter and more manageable.
1. Prioritize Rest
Newborns sleep in short stretches, but that doesn’t mean you can’t recharge. I know easier said than done! Share nighttime duties with your partner or bring in extra support — a postpartum doula can help you get the rest your body needs to recover.
2. Keep Nourishment Simple
You don’t need elaborate meals. Stock up on easy, nutrient-dense snacks you can grab with one hand — fruits, nuts, protein bars, and pre-made meals can keep you fueled without the extra effort.
3. Let Go of Perfection
The laundry and dishes can wait. Your well-being and bonding with your baby matter more than a spotless house. If someone offers to help — let them.
4. Stay Flexible
Postpartum rarely goes according to plan. Some days will feel smooth, others won’t. Give yourself grace and remember that hard moments don’t define you as a parent.
5. Lean on Your Support System
You weren’t meant to do this alone. Let friends bring meals, accept help with chores, and don’t hesitate to call in professional support — whether that’s a postpartum doula, lactation consultant, or therapist.
The newborn stage is tough, but it’s also filled with irreplaceable moments. With the right support, you can find calm and confidence — even in the messiest days.
